FAQs

We understand that the idea of an overseas wedding can evoke mixed emotions—excitement and, at times, daunting feelings among others. We’ve compiled some potential Questions + Answers to address any concerns or uncertainties.

If there's something specific on your mind that we haven’t covered, chances are someone else may have the same question. Please feel free to let us know :)

Q: When is the RSVP timeline?

A: Please RSVP by January 31, 2025.

If you know your plans sooner, we would greatly appreciate it if you could let us know by November 1, 2024, so we can organise accordingly.

Q: How many guests are you expecting?

We are planning an intimate wedding and expecting approximately 65 guests at our wedding.

Q: Can I bring a date?

A: Please check your invite for a “+ Guest”.

Q: What accommodations are available nearby?

A: We have curated a list of recommended accommodations in close proximity to the wedding venue. Information on lodging options can be found here.

Q: How far in advance should I book my travel and accommodation for an overseas wedding?

A: We recommend considering your travel and accommodation options as soon as possible after receiving the wedding invitation. Airline tickets generally become available around 11-12 months in advance. We will be providing some ideas for accommodations on the ‘travel planning’ page of this site.

Q: When is best to arrive in Sicily?

A: If you are travelling from overseas, we recommend arriving a few days early (approx. June 17th) to help with acclimatisation.

Q: Will there be activities planned beyond the ceremony and reception?

A: Yes! We are organising a casual gathering on the evening before the wedding, Thursday, June 19th, and on the afternoon after the wedding, Saturday, June 21st. We will also be extending an invite to enjoy a day of hiking and small coastal beaches in the Zingaro nature reserve on June 18th for those interested. We will share more details closer to the wedding.

Q: Is transportation provided to and from the wedding venue?

A: We are looking to organise transportation to nearby and suggested accommodation locations from the wedding. We can also assist in arranging rides to the venue and/or providing directions for those unfamiliar with the area.

Q: How can I navigate transportation while in Sicily?

A: Sicily is beautiful to discover by car. If you feel comfortable to drive in Italy, we recommend renting a car (carpooling if possible) to enjoy driving around the countryside regions.

Q: What is the weather usually like this time of year in Sicily?

A: Great Question! Since we are both sun chasers, we have planned our wedding for the beginning of European summer. At this time of year, there is a tendency for dry and warm / hot days (day 25-32 C) and cooler breezy nights (20-23 C).

Q: Is the wedding indoors or outdoors?

A: This is an outdoor wedding that begins during the day and transitions into the evening. Both the ceremony and reception will be held on uncovered concrete areas surrounded by nature and beautiful views. The venue includes a hill slope with a cute little ride available for those who would like. All types of footwear are acceptable as long as you feel comfortable. We suggest bringing a light jacket, sweater, or shawl to stay warm for the potential of breezy and cooler evenings.

Q: What is the dress code for the wedding?

A: The short version: Formal / Chic Cocktail including dressy attire such as suits and ties for men and dresses or elegant separates for women.

The descriptive version:

We invite you to celebrate with authentic style that complements the natural beauty and timeless charm of an ancient tower by the Mediterranean Sea. This is an opportunity to dress up and enjoy celebrating with us—wear what makes you feel radiant and ready to soak in the magic of this special evening.

Picture yourself sipping a wine or Sicilian spritz as the sun sets over the sea, inspired by timeless elegance with a hint of playful coastal flair. Ladies, think flowing dresses or stylish separates in sun-soaked neutrals or bold hues. Gentlemen, consider a tailored suit or smart blazer and trousers, refined yet relaxed.

Looking for colour inspiration? Draw from nature’s palette: warm neutrals (as seen on our website) or complementary bold hues.

Q: What about dietary restrictions or preferences?

A: We are accommodating various dietary needs including vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free. Please inform us of any specific requirements, and we will ensure suitable options are available.

Q: Do you recommend staying in Sicily beyond the wedding?

100%, glad you asked! We’ve compiled our favourite travel ideas for the Scopello region here. We also created a 7-Day and 10-Day itineraries for exploring more of Sicily’s magic.

Q: Are there any creatures that I should be concerned about?

As new Australian citizens, we've had many visitors from overseas ask us this question, and we understand the concern. Regarding Sicily, we can assure you that we have never seen a shark in the Mediterranean Sea, have not encountered a Sicilian Mafia leader, and have not been attacked by a spider or snake (though we did see one!). So, rest assured, there is nothing to be afraid of—except, of course, for those passionate Sicilian drivers. Be aware!
