Scopello Region Travel Ideas
Riserva dello Zingaro
Erin’s Top Pick
People around the world love the Scopello coastline, and many visit exclusively for this reason. We believe that if there is one region that best showcases the natural beauty of the coastline, it is Riserva Dello Zingaro – a stunning nature reserve spanning 7 km.
If you’re up for a hike, we highly recommend it as beautiful way to enjoy a day with scenic views and plenty of small seaside beaches featuring incredible coves and crystal-clear waters.
We highly suggest starting early as the days can get hot in June. Bring bottled water, snacks or lunch, sun protection, and your camera!
Tonnara di Scopello
M&E’s Top Pick
Search for destinations in Sicily and you’ll undoubtedly find Tonnara Di Scopello along with beautiful imagery of this seaside pink building surrounded by craggy rock beaches and beautiful aquamarine waters. Yes, it is every bit as beautiful, charming and picturesque as the images online would suggest and it is steps away from our venue.
It the facility, you can enjoy a day relaxing by the sea in one of the facilities shaded sunbeds, go for a swim, or tour the museum.
Because the Tonnara is private property, you will need to book day tickets in advance. The Tonnara is open daily from 10:30 am to 7:30 pm or from 10:30 am to 3:30 pm. Times depend on the season and private bookings, so check the times carefully when you make your reservation. Given the popularity and the limited number of places, we suggest you book in advance.
If you have a car, please note that you cannot park at the Tonnara property. There is paid parking just around the corner closer to Scopello market, so we recommend using that.
Guidaloca Beach
Marco’s Top Pick
Nestled between rocky cliffs and surrounded by lush Mediterranean vegetation, this is one of our favourite beaches in the region located just 5 mins from Scopello. Guidaloca Beach is known for its clear turquoise waters and pebbled golden sand. We love this area for a quick dip, swim, or relaxing under a beach umbrella.
Medieval Town of Erice
This unique and wonderfully preserved Mediaeval town set a top of hill is approximately 40 minutes from Scopello. Amongst the most visited sites are the two castles, Pepoli Castle and Venus Castle.
Enjoy the palpable sense of history while wandering through the maze of cobbled Mediaeval streets and some stunning views. You can also experience local art and plenty of cafes featuring delicious Sicilian foods.
Boat the Scopello Coastline
Explore the Scopello coastline by boat. Rent a boat for up to 7 people and take a trip along the coastline from Castellemmare de Golfo to Riserva dello Zingaro.
Enjoy the incredible views from the sea and stop over at some of the hidden coves to enjoy a swim in the crystal-clear waters.
